You're not "choosing" to be a lesbian and you're not "too young to know." You're legally an adult and you have a right to be who you are. Many people know their sexual orientation at a very young age, way before considering relationships. I've known I was a lesbian as far back as I could remember. There is no set age towards coming out. You have to do it when you're ready. It can be early, too! Finding your sexuality earlier in life gives you ample time to accept it and plan your life. Try explaining to your mom that some lesbians have relationships with men/boys because of society's pressures. I lasted a day with my "boyfriend." Like you said, it was uncomfortable and I couldn't do anything else but politely bow out so I didn't lead him along. Since your mom has already heard your assertations, have a good (polite but firm) talk with her. Tell her some of what I said above. Let you know you love her and you want to have a great mother-daughter relationship built on fairness and honesty. Explain to her that the boyfriends made you uncomfortable. Share your thoughts and, if you want to, tell her how you arrived at your decision to come out. Maybe you could talk to your dad as well. You know your parents best, so steer the conversation in a way that makes them feel most comfortable. Respect them and share your love. I hope everything turns out okay. Good luck! :)

I've known for a while that I was attracted to women, but I never wanted to consider that being gay was even an option (religious and social reasons). I've only recently (within the last 2 years) put things together and figured out why I feel like I do. I had to take a while to accept it in myself before I could be comfortable with it. I guess my mom needs the same kind of time. Thanks for the advice. I think I need to have another talk with her, I just feel as though I don't want to get her anymore upset w/ me than she already is. Ugh... This is so complicated!

It is complicated. I am 31 and having the same issue with my mom. she says things are moving too fast, but I am not that young anymore and if wait, I will miss out on what I want most in life. So don't wait to live your life! you only have one!! I know it's easier said then done, but the advice I have been given is give her space and time. She will find out she will either have to accept you for you or lose you.

You are fortunate to know and accept who you are at your age.
I am 37 and just accepting. Many decisions would have been different!
Like Xooits says "you are not choosing this", orientation is predetermined, we just have to discover it for our own happiness.
Hopefully along the way the people arround us can accept it too.
I too had the social and religious pressures to be straight, I understand your angst.
If you need to, you can change your religion without loosing your Faith.
Religion is "man's" interpretation of GOD's will, your Faith is your connection to GOD. Don't let anyone tell you who you are!

I do think you are young and it is possible that your attraction could change but I knew that I liked girls from the age of 5. You probably know who you are at an early age. Follow your heart and try not to worry so much about what other people think and say.I wish you all the best.
