My story if you want to read, I came out to my parents over the phone. Ive fought depression my entire life. My mother of course knew this because she had to take me to therapy when I was a kid for it. She also knew i was in and out of therapy my entire life. So when i was ready and stopped convincing myself the world was going to explode if i told anyone, i called her up and said, well i know what the source of the depression is and here it is. So i used the depression as a way to get to it. It was a bit of a half truth in that yes the hiding these things made my depression way worse than it needed to be, but even after i still battle it, its just way better than at any other time in my life. Does my mom understand, not in the least. but i am lucky in that shes okay with not understanding and she just treats any partner i bring over as a human being, like she would if its a friend or any lover or any other person that has ever come and gone. For my situation and life, that method was the one that worked for me.
