I invited my girlfriend to an LGBT event at my job. The event went great. I felt very comfortable and came out to several coworkers. My girlfriend and I both had a lot to drink and she proceeded to take me to my apartment to make sure I got home okay. I had asked my sons father to watch him while I attended the event and the two were in my apartment.(we separated over a year and a half ago). When I arrived home my sons father was upset I was drunk and had arrived later than expected. We argued and he left. Little did I know that my girlfriend had stayed outside of my apartment. She approached my sons father and told him her and I had been dating for 2 years (in reality its a yr and a half). She also told him he cant disrespect me, and even threatened to physically hurt him. The entire altercation took place in front of various neighbors that were outside. I was actually sleeping when everything occurred and was awoken by my door bell at around midnight. My mother and father who live about half hr away were at my door. My sons father had apparently called them and told them what had occurred. My mom asked why this woman approached my sons father and had made these accusations of being my girlfriend. In my half belligerent and half asleep state I just said I dont know and my parents left. I have been avoiding them and ignoring their calls ever since. (they would never be accepting of me dating a woman)
I am very hurt and upset because I felt my girlfriend and I were at a good place. I felt outted to being a lesbian to my sons father, my parents and my neighbors all in one night, none of which I had control over. I also feel embarrassed that my private life was put out there for all to judge. Reality had been distorted in my sons fathers mind and he and the neighbors think that I was cheating on him with my girlfriend which was untrue. How could the person who supposedly loves me the most do this? I know she was drunk and it wasnt intentional but all of this will put a heavy burden in our relationship especially now that my sons dad has threatened to physically hurt me if I bring my girlfriend around my son. I feel as if the rug has been pulled from under me and fear how bad things will be.

I'm sorry to hear about this, it is a extremely tough spot to be in. On one hand there was alcohol involved which can defiantly make a mess of things. yes your partner was in the wrong for how she introduced herself to your sons father. but at the same time she could have thought seen you came out to your co-workers that you were out to your family. I think you should have sit down and have a good conversation to her about how she made you feel and were she was put you. hoped this helps feel free to message me.
