Hi there and im sorry I didn't get the chance to check here yesterday. I wish I could say there is an easy answer. I would like to say that parents would love their children with all they are always. Sadly that isn't the reality, in fact its probably closer to a fairy tale than anything. I don't know exactly how your parents behave as a whole and I don't know them as people so that makes it hard to know what to suggest for you. What your parents say may be true, some parents are a bit mean as a way of subjecting you to stresses that the world will place on you later in order to prepare you for being an adult (this is something that has gotten less and less as time has gone on from an older person). Things like getting your license for instance, most people your age are terrified of the concept of driving, yet when I was your age, it was the main drive to get to... getting your license was everything. So it may be the hopes they will make you have that same idea. Its militant and I don't necessarily think its a good idea but they are doing what they can and if you are an oldest or only child, you are their first attempt and so they are learning just like you. If this is the case they may end up loving you either way and while the whole gay thing may be a shock they may be able to handle it better than you think and all the comments they are making are simply ignorant stupidities that we all do. For the longest time in gaming claiming you "raped" someone was thought funny, this was a similar ignorant thing to say because rape is never funny. I think your other path is that unless you are dead set on having a relationship now, just keep it quiet until that time comes. Focus on your education so you can get established in a career that will allow you to be self sufficient. This will likely mean college and such as well but in the end you will be in a far better situation. Let them deal with it when they cant hold things over you. In the end because you are under the age of 18 you cant be thrown out if you are in the USA. its a pretty heavy crime for a parent to attempt to do that. That said, at 18 they also don't have to let you stay. So if you truly think they will be horribly adverse to it, you may just be better off waiting for a relationship till you are self sufficient at least some. in the mean time, challenge them. when he says something like that, ask him, what makes it so wrong? Why is it a problem that two people love one another. Helpful if you know someone at school who is openly gay, make your stance that so and so seems happy and so why is it such a problem? Make them actually think about what they are saying. Make them answer you with valid reasoning as to why its a bad thing. You aren't outing yourself by doing it, it makes them actually consider the concept as something more than a punch line and it may get them to change their behavior. You are at the age where you should be asking questions like that so it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for you to do so. Hopefully this helps you out some.
