I am not exactly sure that the question can have been that serious. He is an adult after all. As you say he may just be having a bit of a problem with the idea.

What did you say to the question? It is possible a straight "yes" may have been the best way. You know your son best to judge!

Your son, I am sure, will eventually come round to the fact that you would not have come out if you were not going to do anything about it. It is possibly still a bit of a shock, in which case giving him some time to adjust may not be a bad idea.

I would continue with your plans and just give him some warning if you are going on a date.

Consider that porn is simply something for sexual pleasure, he is well aware that those in those films have no intimate relationship. So i don't think this is where is question came from. I think if you recently just told him, what he doesn't understand is that it is not a new thing for you, but from his point of view his mom just decided she was going to do that. So it may be more from the standpoint of "okay is she just experamenting or what?" He also needs time to get his head around the concept of it in general. We look at it as this is something within us, it is about us, and some forget that where it is all about us, it also affects those that deal with us. We are not the only ones who need time to understand it. We had our whole lives to figure it out where they just learned about it a few days ago. I don't think his questions are meant from a defiant standpoint or unaccepting one, i think they are just coming from a stand point of it is all new to him with regards to you.

Thanks for the comment WyndWytch. I think you got a clearer picture of this than I did. He has not mentioned this since the one day. I think e still needs time to "process" what I told him. As oneinacrowd said I should just wait and see and give him the warning if I' going on a date.I appreciate everyone's responses.
