ive known im gay for a while but ive been to afraid to tell anyone. now i feel like im ready to tell my closest friends but everytime i bring up the topic of homosexuality they all cringe. they say they dont mind gay men because they're 'cute' but lesbians make them sick. i know if they knew that i was gay they wouldnt say this- at least not to my face. i have one friend who doesnt udge people because of their sexual orientation and i know if i told her then she would accept me 100% but the thing is she accidentally outed her brother to some members of her family and to me and another friend which makes me think that she might do the same to me. not intentionally of course but still the worry is still there. im not ready for the whole world to know just yet but i feel if i dont tell anyone and keep my feelings bottled up im going to go crazy!

please any help would be really appriciated!

Take it from me, I held those feelings in forever. And once I had come out, everyone asked why I hadn't done so earlier. I really don't know why. But I found that most friends were accepting. Those few that weren't, well they weren't true friends to stress over something so small.

Homosexuality is not that big of a deal when you put it into perspective. The problem is most of your friends have a stereotypical picture of what gays and lesbians are. Gay guys are overly effeminate and "flowery" and lesbians are manly and such. That's the case for some, but not all. Don't let anyone define you. Your sexuality is only a small part of what makes you you.

Staying closeted is selfish. Don't wait as long as I did. It really eats you up inside. Tell somebody, and slowly move toward being totally out.

i really want to tell them. believe me really do but one of my friends said she would rather die than be a lesbian. that really hurt me and has really put me off telling anyone im not afraid of telling anyone im afraid of their reaction because i dont want to lose my friends over something thats out of my control and i know most of them wont see it as just a part of me they'll see me as some big scary lesbian who's trying to get with them when that isnt the case:/

If being a lesbian would change things, they're not your friends. If you want to wait until you graduate, go for it. But you won't see most of your so called friends after you graduate. They won't matter in a few years. You'll be able to choose your friends and your life. So don't sweat this.
