Coming Out Support Group
This community is dedicated to the challenges that gay men and lesbian women face, both between the partners in a relationship and from other influences (family, society, etc.). Find support and talk to others who may be facing the same challenges, and share your experience.
I already posted this in the gay and lesbian teens group, but i thought it wouldn't hurt to post it here as well. Here goes:
I've been really confused for a while, as to whether i want to come out or not. Actually, it's not that i don't want to come out, i most definately do, but there is something stopping me. Let me explain my situation:
I live in Senega (a country in west africa), and i go to an international school with an american curriculum. We have 68 people in our high school, almost half of them freshman for some reason. But anyways, i've never really dated anyone, never been kissed (not counting truth or dare lol). Homosexuality is illegal here in Senegal, but i guess the atmosphere at school is ok for gays/lesbians. there is one guy that is bi and out, and another girl that is bi and sortof out, its more of an 'im open to falling in love, no matter the gender'. and yh. My bio teacher is lesbian. The point is that i don't feel there would really be much of a point, coming out in my current situation. I might as well wait until i am in college, or living in another country with more diversity acceptance.
In addition to my situation being a bit abnormal, i have a problem with myself, which wouldn't change, no matter where i live. I am extremely proud of being lesbian, but i feel like i'm not worthy... or something... that people will be disgusted with me being a lesbian just because i am me, not because they don't like lesbians. I don't know. I guess i have a love hate relationship with myself xD I just don't know how to get over this. It isn't like i just have low self esteem, its something else. and i don't know what. so that doesnt help much haha.
But seriously, i am so proud, yet i can't get myself to come out... how weird is that? Plus i really want to do something for the glbtq community. I want to make an impact, or at least be in demonstrations and stuff :)
anyways... I don't even know what kind of answers i am expecting from you guys... i guess anything would be helpful. Even if you don't comment, thanks for reading :)

If you're confident that you're going to be safe, and you want to do it then okay. But be careful; what if you go into town and someone hears something they shouldn't? Just because the school is a closed atmosphere doesn't mean reality can't reign in. And coming out in a group that small... it only takes one person to have an issue.
Don't do anything that could cause you to get hurt. I highly reccomend coming out in college. It's awesome and much more openminded, and most college campus's have more resources to protect you if something happens.
