First of all congrads on Coming out to your mom, and second of all i know how hard it is struggling with know if you're gay or not for 10 years (have experienced this as well,but haven't came out yet). Third of all it's sad that your mom thinks that you were abused because you came out as being a lesbian... that's not true! Hope it goes well with your dad.

Thanks. I thought I was going to be kicked out of the house or atleast not allowed to stay in the apt with her for a few days, but I locked myself in my room and kept myself busy. Today seems to be a little better. We are talking without argueing, but she did say she doesn't want to talk about it anymore. So hopefully one day she will turn around... Just waiting on my dad to call me and let me know he got his letter. He called today and I think my mom has told him, but he didn't pressure me into telling him. I think he will be sad, but he will atleast know not to say stupid stuff like, you are throwing your life away (my mom did) and stuff.
If you decide to come out, it feels great! No matter what anyone says or does it will take a burden off of you. You may have another issue to deal with, but it does get better ;)

Well i am glad it turned out ok for you. My mom thinks that i don't know what i want but i believe i am pretty sure that i am gay. My dad thinks that i am not gay. I asked my mom if/when i come out should i ever tell my dad? and she she No. So i am not going to come out at home that's for sure! And not to get off the subject but how old are you if i may ask?

You don't have to tell anyone anything unless you want to. I felt my parents deserved to know... I am about to be 26, in November. I do still live with my mom and it's because I made some stupid decisions in my life. Mainly I haven't furthered my education yet and it's very difficult to find a good paying job without a degree. I am hoping at the end of this year I have enough money saved up to move in with my fiance. She is living in FL right now and I have only had the chance to visit her once since she moved back in Febuary. My fiance just turned 23 and is lucky enough that everyone just knew she is a lesbian since she was probably in elementary or middle school.
I feel like once I move things will only get better. Her family supports GLBTQ so that's a major plus. If you haven't already checked this site out it's good just listen to even though it's aimed at younger people. www.itgetsbetter.org

Thanks for the link but am the same age as you. however i will still check it out. I am also still living at home..on SSI because i have Cerebral Palsy. But getting SSI is only temp because i am going to get my surgery for my left foo,t so i can find a good paying job and get off of SSI. After that I would like to move out so i can get my shit together and live the way i want..try to come out, but also live privately as possible. And after that i will be 30 years old when it's all said and done. P.S Getting foot done in the next 6 or 7 months or so.

No problem. Glad to hear you will be able to move out soon. That will be a big step and probably really help with your uncertainty. Sometimes we can make things more difficult for ourselves than we have to. When you know, you will know. There is no rush just have fun.
