Colon Cancer Support Group
Colorectal cancer, also called colon cancer or bowel cancer, includes cancerous growths in the colon, rectum and appendix. Many colorectal cancers are thought to arise from mushroom-like growths that are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of localized colon cancer is through colonoscopy.
GG-- Breathe, eat and touch... is an interesting point. I just so happened to notice that BC I kept my cell phone tucked in my elastic waist band all day long right over my tumor location. Coincidence?
I would get up for my 6 am hike and it would place my cell there so my daughter could reach me on my hike/run and I would just leave it there out of convenience...hmmm.
I've mentioned this site before. It has the best basic explanation of how cancer develops -

There are many theories - probably because there is more than one way that it starts - but I think it's pretty much accepted that you need "multiple hits" to get cancer. You need a hit to the DNA (could be caused by environmental factors, etc.) and you need a failure in the DNA repair mechanisms. Usually having an inherited mutation (like some of us have) means that we have a defect in the mechanisms that recognise or repair damage to DNA. (My missing gene is called a "spell checker" gene.) So environmental factors, heredity, the immune system - all play a role.
I was sure I had figured out why I got my first cancer - and I was all wrong!! At first I was devasted when I learned had the MSH2 genetic mutation. Now I'm fascinated. Understanding DNA damage and repair makes me totally unafraid of cancer - this is science not voodoo!!
