Colorectal cancer, also called colon cancer or bowel cancer, includes cancerous growths in the colon, rectum and appendix. Many colorectal cancers are thought to arise from mushroom-like growths that are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of localized colon cancer is through colonoscopy.

... and unfortunately not the ones that I wanted and I guess a little more shocking than I was expecting.

The PET scan didn't show anything new but then they are not very good at picking up mucanosa carcinomas. The something is right on top of the scar of the previous surgery and apparently 5cm's in size.

The scans have have been reviewed by the multi-disciplinary team and they believe it is operable but won't be total sure until they open me up, there is still a possibility that it is scar tissue but they it is more probably a recurrence. Apparently it is not inside the bowel but on the outside.

So I'm off to see the surgeons to discuss options.

OH MAN! All of these diagnostic tools... and they still have to go in to find out. Can you have orthoscopic surgery? I hope so.. I don t know what your first experience was. Well, keep us posted. I m sure they are not going to want to waste any time.

Mark, I had a little lump too on the outside of my colon, but behind my scar, and it was a small hernia. Prayers your way.

Thanks for all your support and prayers, at the moment I am waiting for an appointment to discuss options with the surgeon and then after that a date for surgery.

From what I have read it may be a good idea to push for HIPEC as well.
