Colorectal cancer, also called colon cancer or bowel cancer, includes cancerous growths in the colon, rectum and appendix. Many colorectal cancers are thought to arise from mushroom-like growths that are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of localized colon cancer is through colonoscopy.
Hi everyone,
My daughter, with rectal cancer - stage 3, has been doing well following her surgery, radiation/chemo, chemo and then reversal. She has had two scan which were good - last dr. said showed NED. After being released from the radiation onclogist, she was told to see her gyne since the radiation put her into menopause. She had the dr vist, which went well, dr. said just scar tissue, hormone test revealed yes she was in menopause, mammogram was good - then today they called and said her pap showed atypical cells - no carcinoma was seen, but she has to have further testing. She called the oncologist and rad. onc. and was told this probably was from the radiation.
Has anyone else had abnormal pap results following radiation/chemo? She is now a nervous wreck again. I just feel so bad, things were finally looking like she was going to get a break here. I so want to take this off her and do it for her, but I know that is not possible.
Just looking for some feedback on this.
