Colorectal cancer, also called colon cancer or bowel cancer, includes cancerous growths in the colon, rectum and appendix. Many colorectal cancers are thought to arise from mushroom-like growths that are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of localized colon cancer is through colonoscopy.
Just got back from Oncologist. She said all looked good. And guess what - I DO get a cat scan, I thought she told me last time I was in to see her that they only did them if there was a problem. She said I get one every year (had one before surgery). I see her 4 times a year for the first 2 years (also blood work), after two years I see her twice a year then after that once a year for 10 years in all. Anyway thanks for all your good wishes and prayers. Onward we go !!
When is the CT scan? The hospital won't schedule until after my blood work on March 16th. I haven't had my colonoscopy yet. The gastro I'd used has a bad office group. NINE business days of phone calls didn't get an appt. set so I'm switching to a doctor here in town who has a good reputation.
I'll remember you but expect great news!

As you see, even with people at the same stage, it "depends" somewhat. Guidelines for Stage 4 and for people wth active disease are different. I was Stage 1 and those are slightly different too.
Medicine is 50% science, 25% art, and 25% guesswork (I just made that up, lol).
Great News! I'm also glad to hear that Kaiser follows standard guidelines for cancer patients. I was concerned when you told me "no scan". Have a wonderful weekend & God Bless.
