Colorectal cancer, also called colon cancer or bowel cancer, includes cancerous growths in the colon, rectum and appendix. Many colorectal cancers are thought to arise from mushroom-like growths that are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of localized colon cancer is through colonoscopy.

DS was a help to me when I had a big health problem about 10 years ago, so I'm back now that I've been diagnosed with colon cancer.

I find out on Wed just how bad it is, but I'm assuming it's going to be Stage 4. I've got my port placed (and have steadily been doing too much so it's still achy, dammit). There will be chemo and surgery, but what and where and how much of each is still up in the air.

Doesn't look like there are many posts out there, so I'd appreciate any words of wisdom.

Chemo can be hard. My mom has stage 4 liver and colon cancer. She has been doing chemo for three years. She has her good days and her bad days. If you have any questions I am here.

I had stage 3 colon cancer, diagnosed in dec 2012... Had chemo no radiation, I was able to convince them to offer me an oral chemo...Taking 5 pills in the am and 5 in the pm daily with a break every third week....Please check back to see my story...

It's stage 4. Chemo has been SUPER rough, and worse each time, as it is. I'm currently on a chemo break (niiiiiice) and will have surgery to remove my tumors at the end of September. After that, they want me back on the chemo.

I've talked to my oncologist about adjusting the amount of certain chemo cocktail ingredients, but I'm not sure what will happen.
