Many colorectal cancers are thought to arise from mushroom-like growths that are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of localized colon cancer is through colonoscopy.

NED- Clear Scans

My Ct Scans were clear. So right now I am in remission or NED(No Evidence of Disease). I can't say cancer free until it's been 5 years. It can always come back but it's less likely. I get yearly ct scans for 5 years, tumor marker blood tests every 3 months and because of clear colonoscopy I won't need another one for 3 years. My GI surgeon said that my digestive issues are most likely caused by the bowels not liking how they are reattached and that it should get better with time.

awesome. its interesting what you said about gi issues being from your surgery. I have had digestive issues and gassiness since my surgery i didn't see my gi dr until recently and he never even mentioned this may have been caused by my sugery which was almost 4 years ago. Guess i will need to bring this up when i see him next week.

I am so happy to hear good news for another warrior! I have read about "short bowel" syndrome. May I ask about your symptoms after surgery? Congrats again. Sincerely happy for you!

I had half of my sigmoid and half of my rectum removed. After surgery I had much more bloating and gas, alternating diarrhea and constipation or multiple small bowel movements, abdominal pain, urgency. I was put on dicetel an antispasmodic that helped with bowel spasms. I still suffer from the other symptoms and still get bowel spasms sometimes but not as frequently as before dicetel.

In September 2015, I had rectal bleeding with pain, A rectal exam was normal and the bleeding went away.

On December 8th I have severe cramping pain that was so bad that I was writhing on the bathroom floor. I was dripping sweat, dizziness, shakiness, solid stool and then really bad diarrhea. My abdomen was very sore. The pain went away.

On December 29th, I had the same symptoms as December 8th except I had bloody diarrhea, got the chills, and had a fever of 100.5 F. The pain continued to get worse. I went to the ER and was admitted to the hospital for a week. An x-ray showed bowel blockage. A ct with gastrografin contrast showed thickened bowel wall. A sigmoidoscopy showed severe inflammation where my bowel was reattached following surgery. Numerous biopsies were taken. Stool tests for infection were negative so that didn't cause my colitis. So it's either inflammatory bowel disease or my cancer returning. I was put on 8 weeks of prednisone upon discharge. I had some iv prednisone while in the hospital. I see the doctor on January 26th to go over the results.

I'm having trouble with shakiness, dizziness, weakness, tiredness and stomach pain/cramping and bowel issues.
