Colorectal cancer, also called colon cancer or bowel cancer, includes cancerous growths in the colon, rectum and appendix. Many colorectal cancers are thought to arise from mushroom-like growths that are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of localized colon cancer is through colonoscopy.

Around 3 months ago my friend has found out he has cancer in his bowel which is splashed onto his liver and lung,the doctors have tried him unsucessfully on chemotherapy,and said there isnt anything they can do,we hear that treatment in the USA is more advanced any HELP would be very much appreciated ty

We do have excellent cancer treatment in America. I was dx in 2002 and the treatments have kept me here this long. Have your friend call Cancer Centers of America. They have the most advance treatments here.

See if it's worth getting referred to one of the PMP specialists either at Christies in Manchester or Basingstoke, depends whether the spread is in the liver/lung or on the surface, if it's surface then these guys can help, and Basingstoke bizarrely is the world leader in the type of surgery. They operated on me after my cancer had spread from bowel to the surface of my liver, the peritoneal lining and my gall bladder.

MD Andersen is the @1 cancer hospital in the U.S. They are in Houston; there is a branch in Orlando. Can you take him there?

Tell your friend to ask about RFA-- radiofrequency ablation. My husband had 7 RFA procedures (a possible record) for metastases to his liver and lung, never spent more than overnight in the hospital, side effects like a case of the flu for a week.

If your friend can find an experienced interventional radiologist, this could be a wonderful alternative for him.
