Colorectal cancer, also called colon cancer or bowel cancer, includes cancerous growths in the colon, rectum and appendix. Many colorectal cancers are thought to arise from mushroom-like growths that are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of localized colon cancer is through colonoscopy.
slightly off topic, but just watched her being interviewed on the Jonathan Ross show here in the UK, and it was quite shocking to watch her turn from a bubbly full of confidence celebrity to someone who was very nervous and scared when she started talking having cancer, her eyes went to the floor, she started fidgeting with a her shoe buckle her whole demeanour changed. It just goes to show what a great leveller cancer is, she has gone through the the same thing we have and has been affected in pretty much the same way we have. I think she did a brave thing talking about it on TV she obviously found it very difficult.
I hesitate to tell people, I don't want them to be uncomfortable... but, funny thing, men will ask what kind of cancer, and when I say Colon, ( they expect a woman to say breast ) They cringe, and all launch right into, " oh I need to go ... or I m good, or my brother, this and that" it helps people to talk about their fears of getting checked...
