Colorectal cancer, also called colon cancer or bowel cancer, includes cancerous growths in the colon, rectum and appendix. Many colorectal cancers are thought to arise from mushroom-like growths that are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of localized colon cancer is through colonoscopy.
Just want you all to know how much this site means to me. You are all so supportive with your comments, answers, concerns and help. I've just made it through my first "bad" week. My colon was removed 2 months ago, started chemo on Wed. & Thur. I get Oxaliplatin, leucovorin & 5-Fu which I wear home both nights in a pump, it's removed Fri afternoon. My bad days were Fri, Sat, Sun. Today is Mon and doing much better. I had nausea and fatigue, sensitive fingers to cold and a few other minor things. The pills help the nausea, thank you God. I get my chemo every other week for 6 months, so one down eleven to go. I have you all from Daily Strength on my prayer list, please put me on yours. Do you know the "Footprints in the Sand" poem. When you and God are walking together on the beach you see two sets of footprints, when you only see one set of prints, that's when the Lord is carrying you.

Keep counting them down! I don't know if any of the other member have recommended this yet, but starting in a few weeks you will have painful tingling and numbness starting to hit your hands and feet. My doctor thankfully told me to take 4 tbsp. of Glutamine everyday through my chemo. Just mix 2 tbsp. in a cup, twice a day, with water a crystal light so that it has a bit of flavor going down. I felt NO NUMBNESS at all through the chemo! And when I got back from my first day of chemo each round, right after the Oxaliplatin I felt tingling like they told me to expect, but within half an hour of drinking 2tbsp. of Glutamine, all the weird and uncomfortable tingling went away in my hands and feet. You can buy it at GNC or any other vitamin store, and it will save you from much discomfort!
