I had my surgeries and treatment in 2007. It took some time but the neuroapathy went away. I never thought I would appreciate being able to walk along the ocean shore with my feel in the water as much as I do now!

I still have to be careful of gassy foods, I still wake up at least 3 times a night and I still have hot flashes. But other than that I have an active and healthy life. I am back exercising, playing tennis, hiking and swimming.

For the first few months (I believe that's how long) I kept an extra set of clothes in my car if I went anywhere just in case. But I can say with confidence that I am not in control over this issue for a long time now.

I hope you have a speedy recover back to your New Normal.

I have been having hot flashes lately didn't think it was related to that. Im 48 so I thought maybe was just menopause.

I just recently had my malignant tumor removed from my colon..stage3a...I was told yesterday that my treatments would consist of taking a pill twice a day for three weeks, followed by a one week rest....I prayed that I would be fortunate enough to have a less invasive program than was originally planned and the good Lord has provided. Has anybody had this process? Are they happy with the results// Ron

With my last treatment the second time I was diagnosed with colon cancer I got neuropathy on both my feet and hands. While the neuropathy on my hands disappeared after a month, my feet got better but the neuropathy never left.

I would think with time you will feel better. Also hope you have a quick recovery.

My final treatment wass 10/17/12 and I too still have neuropathy. Many do for awhile. I am taking Gabapentin, I resisted at first not wanting to have any more to do with medication and side effects, however it has really helped the deep dry cracking feeling, deadening and pins and needles that I used to experience. I can feel my hands a little more. Which is great because when I couldn't I kept burning them and cutting them accidentaly during cooking. So either way plan on it most likely being better than it is now.

I am also on Gabepentin....it has helped somewhat, I have been getting the dose increased gradually. Not up to the max dose yet. I do have issues with some of the side effects when the dose was increased. Really bad dizziness for a day or two. Bad enough that I could not even go to work! That has gotten better but still have balance issues. It does seem to help somewhat but some days are better than others.

Wow, a little scary reading this as I start my chemo next week & hoping for the best, but it seems like everyone gets the neuropathy, but it is nice to read you are all recovering. That encourages me. Never thought I would get chemo - but it seems like the best option. Best wishes to everyone! (This is my first post.)

I like you had concerns , It all depends what cocktail they put you on..What stage are you?? I have stage 3a, and they were going to start me on a combination of drugs, which would include a port. I decided that I would prefer the pillsCapecitabine. I take 4 pills twice daily, I have just completed my first week. 2 weeks on medication and 1 week rest for 24 weeks of treatments. Only side affects so far, a couple days I felt a bit nauseous for a short period, but often tired, but I cannot sleep......Let me know how you make out..Ron

I have chronic pain in my feet and back so I didn't notice anything different with chemo. I was on Folfox and Oxy.

Does anyone know of any herbal remedies for neuropathy?. Just Gabepentin alone just isn't cutting it anymore.

My neuropathy in my fingers went away. I believe my neuropathy in my feet got better -- or else I am just use to it. This was over a 2-year period. Should you choose a herbal solution, please make sure your doctor knows about it since herbs are an unregulated form of medication and you want to make sure they do not interfere with medication you are taking.
