Colorectal cancer, also called colon cancer or bowel cancer, includes cancerous growths in the colon, rectum and appendix. Many colorectal cancers are thought to arise from mushroom-like growths that are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of localized colon cancer is through colonoscopy.
I was told that it would take a year after surgery for my bowel function to become more normalized. I've read that for some it never goes back to the way it was before surgery. I've been really struggling with bowel function mainly constipation although I have had diarrhea from eating certain foods and after antibiotics. I can't take metamucil because it causes too much cramping. bloating and pain. The same goes for dulcolax.(stool softener). I've been trying lax-a-day which works sometimes. I've been told not to take it every day because I can become dependent on it. Lax-a-day is the same as miralax. I've tried taking it every other day but it seems to take a long time to work. I've been eating foods with more fiber and try to eat probiotic yogurt. Is there anything else I can do?
Guess in the new me diet has become very important and know if I am going to eat certain things like a good hot curry then I need to be near the dunny.
It has become important for me to eat big meals and to make sure I have plenty fresh fruit and vegetables. And when I do feel like I am blocked up I have the old stand by - porridge, not the processed ready in 25 seconds but like Granny made on the stove in a pot boiling water. This has never failed to move me.

I've never tried Linzess but I have heard of it. The lax-a-day is supposed to cause more water to be absorbed into the colon causing the stool to be softer making it easier to pass. Lax-a-day takes a few days to work. I could look into Linzess too.
