I agree Kate, I never even had the chance to prevent it or to have early detection, since I was 47 when diagnosed. If I would have had to waiti till 50 for the colonoscopy I would surely be deador dying from this horrible disease.

Hi Kate...I agree Cancer is not your fault. Many experienced Dr's I have seen have told me that heredity is the big thing. No one really knows if these alternative things prevent...for every thing we are informed not to do...there is always someone who is doing it without high cancer rates. For example the advice to not eat red meat while explaining why Argentinians who have a high consumption of red meat have a low incidence of colon cancer. I think the propblem is not as simplistic as adding/removing some foods or vitamins.

Nope...it's NOT our fault. Let's place blame where its due...the government for approving and allowing the food additives for longer shelf life, antibiodics and growth hormones in the meat so they grow bigger and faster, and let's not forget all of the pesticides for the critters that try and destroy the crops...problem is this...its all destroying us!!! Sad thing is, no one will admit to or do anything to stop it...there's too much profit to be made.

It's not your fault! I was feeling the same thing recently when i hear it from exercise expert. Really? Haven't they heard of lance Armstrong? I try very hard to eat and cook from natural form, exercise, don't drink, smoke or drugs. I don't have lynch syndrome and I still get cancer! IMO, environment, air we breathe, anything we put on our skin, consume, cleaning products, makeup, processed foods, electronics, etc. anything can cause cancer! if a smoker or work with as asbestos lung cancer, or if it's hereditary then one can assume its cause. Strangest thing when I was 5, I would hear adult gossip about someo e with cancer and I thought to myself its from what we eat. Since d w/ colon ca I've attended 40s and under ca support group where over half are strict vegan or vegetarian and I wonder, if most like myself practiced healthy lifestyle 10 years before cancer, it couldnt be from lack of exercise, diet. One never know or can pinpoint it to one thing, but if it's something ive eaten, it is still out of our control. With you Kate cancer is not a punishment for something I did or did not do. For me cancer is one of those 'shit happens' things. No matter what I did or did not do I may or may not have ended up with cancer.

For me though worrying about why I became ill with cancer if fruitless more important for me to concentrate on how I am going to kick it ass.

My sister died at age 55 from colon cancer- she never drank or smoked - lived very healthy - mostly organic food - they made her feel like it was her fault. It was such a terrible situation. It's bad enough to be terminal and all healthcare providers making her feel like it was her fault.
I totally understand how you are feeling.
