Colorectal cancer, also called colon cancer or bowel cancer, includes cancerous growths in the colon, rectum and appendix. Many colorectal cancers are thought to arise from mushroom-like growths that are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of localized colon cancer is through colonoscopy.
I haven't logged on in quite some time but want to give an update. I'm 5 years out from Stage 3 with 3 lymph nodes compromised. I went through 6 months of chemo and slowly got my strength back. My feet are somewhat numb but I can live with it.
When I was first diagnosed, I was very scared and was terrorized by reading statistics on-line. Then I discovered this site and it became my sanity.
Just wanted to check in and let everyone old and new hear a good story. And finally, don't let statistics get to you.

Remember early days the 'statistics' depressed me till someone said to me to remember you are an individual not a statistic. If others have beaten this disease why can't you. That gave me a lot of hope and in truth probably the one thing that I hung onto in the scary times.
