Many colorectal cancers are thought to arise from mushroom-like growths that are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of localized colon cancer is through colonoscopy.

a bit discouraged

They pushed back my 3rd treatment this week due to low WBC. They are going to schedule for next week, then do some kind of shots to increase bone marrow before treatment 4. I have been walking as much as the weather and my work schedule permit, eating tons of high protein and drinking lots of water. I also take multi-vitamins and calcium/Vit D and magnesium supplements. Is there anything else I could be doing to raise my counts??

I asked Dr same question. He said no. Shots did work my 4th treatment was delayed for a week then count was up still had shot that week but have had no more shots and white count has been OK. I go wed for 8th treatment. I always say BIG prayer that all is well do not like delay hope to go home to the lake after treatment is over on Fri. I am off OXI now so that will probably help. I keep you in my daily prayers. Stay positive!! :)

capecod, my treatments (the first 5 of them) were all pushed back because of low wbc. then after last chemo they started giving me shots to raise it up - they work. My shots were Neupogen, given every other day in the tummy (they don't hurt) but they made me very weak (fatigue) the next day, so laying around ain't so bad cause now my count is up and I can get chemo when I should, every other week and get this mess over with. They stopped my shots after my last treatment. I suppose if my wbc does dip again they may start shots again, oh well. My Dr. and nurse say there is absolutely nothing anyone can do to raise wbc, your body does it (or the shots) so all you have been doing is great but won't help wbc. My prayers are with you and all the others on this site.

My WBC's were low after my 2nd tx so the doctor lowered my dosages slightly and they've remained at a good level ever since. Actually, 'Perfect' labs, says doctor.

My potassium will be slightly low if I don't eat right and my Vit. D3 was only 19 and should be 32-75. I'm taking 3,600 IU's for that and pushing foods with potassium.

Hope yours was also a one time thing.
