I started to go back to school in January, and I have been tired and cranky almost every day. I know this is a great learning experience, but there are some days I wish I could have a week off. I long for sleep and would and some days I would just rather do other things. Easter is coming up and they don't even give us time off for the holiday. It truly is a challenge and I pray that I will be able to keep up and not fail.
I am sad and glad to hear that someone can relate. I wish you better luck in finding time to relax than I. No breaks can be overwhelming at times, I mean, I too know that learning is a great opportunity but students need time away from the endless cycle of homework to breath every once and a while.
I believe in you. Worrying can drag you down sometimes but I always try to remind myself to focus on the current task and not the end of the semester final grade. By doing your best, you can never really fail. If you do not pass, always remember there is next semester; but you won't have to worry about that, you got this!
Your words give me comfort. There is one class which I have been struggling with, and I have been a little worried about my final grade. I had a couple of grades which were a little below what I like to get. They have brought down my overall grade. I guess I am trying to get the best grade I can. My husband graduated with honors, and I am trying to do the same thing. I am concerned that I am just not capable of doing that. He always tends to get better grades than myself, so I am hoping I can do the same. The pressure is over whelming. For me my job pays for my classes, so if I fail a class I have to reimburse them for it and I can't afford that. However if I focus on the current task and do my best I am sure to pass.
I am glad to hear that.
Our biggest critics are ourselves.
Your husband has achieved a very difficult task; one that will surely encourage and challenge you. Here is how I would look at it; knowing his scores and achievements and knowing that he loves and supports you . . . use him. In a nice way of course. Lean on him for assistance in your own achievement but do not set standards for yourself, they will only hinder you by altering your mindset. By setting standards for yourself, you set limits for yourself in which you have a higher chance of failing yourself than your grade, in the same way that not setting standards allows you to go beyond what you ever thought possible without the pressure of not meeting our overwhelming expectations. Looking back at that moment you will amaze yourself which in turn will allow you to look at the world with an, 'I can accomplish anything I set my mind to' philosophy. Again I state; we are our biggest critics. By staying unbiased and focused, you will accomplish and achieve.
A quote from which I do not remember the author, "when will you set down the mountain you were meant to climb". It is not exactly detailed but it impacted me. All this time I was carrying around that damn mountain and never realized that by setting it down and taking it one step at a time in attempt to climb it I could be relieved of that overpowering weight and, even if I fall and tumble down again and again I (one) am no longer carrying it, and (two) can begin climbing yet again with fresh eyes and knowledge of how I fell, preventing that same obstacle from tripping me again. Now, yes, other obstacles will get in my way but everything is accomplished with trial and error. We as humans learn by our mistakes.
I got a little off topic there but I think it wove itself into my meaning.
