I felt the same way when I finished my undergrad, and I can tell you many of my friends did, too. It is completely normal.
The day I moved back home, I cried. I didn't have a job, and I had no idea what to do. My degree was in an area so general (Psychology) that I could potentially go any direction I wanted. While many people think that is a good thing, it can also be crazy overwhelming. In undergrad, your day was planned out, and your job was to be a student. No one can really prepare your for the real world of work, let alone how to figure out jobs.
Think about your strengths and your interests. There are websites such as O*NET Online that can help you look into careers based on interests, degrees, etc. This may start giving you an idea.
Just take a deep breath. I have realized in the past year that it is okay not to have your life completely mapped out after college, especially with this economy. Begin to take baby steps in establishing who you are and what you like to do, then go from there. :)
He goes back and forth between wanting to go to school and not wanting to go school. One day he's gung ho about going and the next day he's unsure and adamantly against it. He feels that he has far too many interests to settle on one thing to major in. While that may be true as well, I think you and he might have a common problem.
With him, I feel that his problem is that he's afraid to try because he's afraid of failure. He feels that he's only worthy of a dead-end job. He's extremely intelligent and can do anything he puts his mind to but he feels that he's not good enough. I think part of your stress might be a fear of failure as well. You seem like you might be afraid of going back to school and coming out with a degree that you can't put to use. I think you're comparing that to your current situation because you have a college degree but you're working in a coffee shop. It might be that you're afraid of ending up in the same place again. You're scared that you'll go back to school, get another degree (or go to grad school and get a higher degree), but still be working in the coffee shop.
