For the past few months, I've been getting tonsillitis a lot. I had it about 4 weeks ago and it was the worst I've ever had it, I had the white stones and all (which I've never had). A week after that went away, my throat was dry and itchy and my doctor put me on more penicillin to clear it up, which made me sick so I had to stop. Now today, its annoyingly sore and a bit red and I think I can see the start of the stones coming back.
Should I get my tonsils out?
If it makes any difference, I'm about to turn 20, I have mixed connective tissue disease, celiac disease and anxiety.. and I don't smoke or drink

Hi Akate! Those white stones are called tonsil stones. Your situation sounds very similar to mine. As soon as I told my E.N.T. that I was getting tonsil stone regularly he recommended having my tonsils removed. The stones form in small crypts that form in the tonsils from frequent infection, and I was told that they will never go away-that they only way to get rid of them is to get my tonsils removed.

I had a tonsillectomy this past Tuesday (it is now Saturday) and my healing process has been MUCH better than I anticipated. I have anxiety as well and was not looking forward to how my mind would react to all of this, but I have been able to keep my anxiety under control.

I am unsure of how connective tissue disease would play a part in having surgery-definitely something to speak to an E.N.T. about, but overall if you are getting frequent painful tonsillitis and now the tonsil stones I would definitely recommend getting them taken out.
