Weak Boundaries
Codependents frequently:
-'Say' they won't tolerate certain behaviors from other people.
-Gradually increase their tolerance until they can tolerate and do things they said they would never do.
-Let others hurt them.
-Keep letting others hurt them.
-Wonder why they hurt so badly.
-Complain, blame, and try to control while they continue to stand there.
-Finally get angry.
-Become totally intolerant.

today i feel 4 of these traits, in my distant past all of them

Often I have had weak boundaries and let others take advantage of me or walk all over me. I am slowly learning to speak up for myself and become a little more assertive.

It's tough to let go of loved ones--even when they cause pain, but I'm learning that nothing I do can change someone else's feelings. I just have to take care of me and go with the flow rather than trying to swim upstream.

I am new today to this group, but all of this describes me. I need lots of support from others, so that I can change myself and hopefully that will make a difference for my son. Thank you for being here for me.

I am at the angry and despair stage I am losing the will to live

I am seeing myself fall into codependent behaviors again. I left a 27-year marriage 7 years ago and have come to understand that I am a caretaker who puts myself and my feelings last. I finally left my ex and now see myself doing some of the same things with my live-in boyfriend. I always have this voice in my head worried about how he would judge me for even small things like mopping the floor. I don't want to go back to that awful kind of relationship where I put up with behaviors I shouldnt.
