Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. If you are on a journey towards self-love, this support group is for you. Join us and find others...
Many times a spouse will tell their other spouse to choose = The booze or me? the drugs or me? either you stop or I go.
And many times the spouse will give up their addiction and take the relationship instead.
THAT is the point of the link article.
Near 30 years ago there was a very strict Church group which I wanted to join, but I knew that I could not hide my smoking so it took me a year of hard effort to quit smoking and then I went to that Church.
That wanting for that human connection is what broke my severest addiction, and nothing has ever been so hard for me to clean up then was the smoking of cigarettes.
So I say it is true, that an addict does not really need sobriety, as we each just need some human connection which will over rule the addiction and then the sobriety is just the after effect.
I find this one very useful:

I still think you can love the sinner without tolerating the sin.
I am currently writing a book on the powers of affection. I am collecting articles/research about the topic and I will definitely add this link to my citations. It's not scientific, but still very powerful.
Thanks!
