Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. If you are on a journey towards self-love, this support group is for you. Join us and find others...
I now blog about my life. I just started. I came back to this site today just for research for my next writing post.
Then I saw your topic. So I am stopping my research to give you some advice.
I did read what another person wrote back to you and I think that's a good start. If you arent religious, consider the personal boundaries that religion provides. It's actually protection from just this sort of thing.
I am going to recommend the "Codependent No More" book. I referred back to that book several times. Wrote notes in it. I guess it just really explains codependency and it helped me so much.
Dont get in the habit of using alcohol, drugs or sex as a crutch. I did that...A big fat DUI was the outcome. You have to learn how to be confident in yourself.. You are enough girl! No one has to tell you that. Reach out to supportive friends that just really listen to you and offer sound advice. Not negative advice. Loving advice.
Learn something new and exciting. Achieve a goal. Exercise hard! Endorphines kicking in during a workout is a great way to feel good about yourself. It's a sense of accomplishment!
Walk away from the drama. Drama is addicting. NO CONTACT with people that use you!
Volunteer your time.
Codependency for me is kind of selfish. We want someone else to "complete us" when that is actually putting a huge responsibility on someone else to do. Especially when they have their own issues.
it's probably why some men walk away from needy women and visa versa. I mean, really, who wants that? It's not attractive at all when we know certain people need our validation. That's where users use us to get what they want. They manipulate us because they know they can.
I have started a women's empowerment movement. I have gone through so many life changes that it took all those events to get me to realize what I should have realized all along.
I am enough. I dont need corrupt people to bring me down. It's ok to love them. But they dont define me. I define me.
I hope this helps darlin'! :)
