Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. I am new here too. Welcome. May I suggest you go to my intro and read what daystar gave to me in her post as resources?
She has a huge list of readings and a website she referred me to.
I guess everybody is out celebrating St. Patricks Day.
They will be answering you soon.
Hugs til then...Kenoa
I love hbgdaystar's resources list, it is very comprehensive and I don't think there is anything that I can add to it. It will give you heaps of starting points.
Try not to give yourself a hard time, awareness is such a big part of beginning change and you are at that point. Keep reading, learning, writing and questioning. Good luck and take care.
step1 when you start to feel identify whose inventory it is
step2 act on it if its urs else drop it right there.
Theres no hurry to respond.. take your time to think feel and respond.
this is my everyday every minute work too..
Last week I was working with the Treasurer and he was in a bad mood. I was over-apologizing because I thought I had done something wrong. He said something to me like "Move away from the egoist thinking; this is not about you." I was taken aback, but I realized he was right. I was an egoist in a negative way. In other words, if something bad was going on, it was about me or somehow my fault.
So, I am trying to be more aware and say to self "It is not all about you." I have not been like that in a positive way, like trying to be the center of attention, but when it comes to the bad, my thought is that I did something "wrong".
I can relate.
