Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. If you are on a journey towards self-love, this support group is for you. Join us and find others...
I believe that we all must be our own advocate. You must be good to you in your own mind, forgive your failures, and keep on trying.
God Bless you and give you strength.
Dont tell me that you didn't progress a single time single instance in your whole 1 year journey?
At least i have seen some progress here on DS.
Dont take all of your inventory like you need to do all the laundry right now... Take a little bit at a time and work at it .. You can do it...
Dont loose hope and dont let your inner critic get at you.. You are more valuable to you than ypu think..
Alcohol will not solve any problems at least i learnt that early in my childhood.
Intimacy issues are normal with Adult child ... Only when empathy channel is open can real intimacy exist... Try to go to an ACA or CODA meetings or seek therapy..
You have made a lot of changes. Sometimes it takes a while for them to filter through to the really tough ones. The situation with your SO is a bit more complicated, it is going to take more time. I think it is easier to set boundaries and change our behaviour with people when we don't live with them, at least that is my experience, at least when we are starting to try out new behaviours. It is a bit more challenging when they are always there. Give yourself time.
And give yourself credit for how far you have come this year. If anything, the way you have been handling your family situation can give you more confidence to deal here, you have been working your way through it with them, you will work your way through with him too. It is all a process. One bit at a time...
