Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. I have thought about Alanon too. There's a meeting for women- only in my area.
My daughter has been there for me, in spite of my NOT being there for her. She understands why that is. She's working on her own stuff and I am proud of her for doing that . She knows something is going on, but won't pry and I certainly am not going to tell her. It wouldn't be good for her or me. Maybe someday when this is all over and I have done what I need to do.
