Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. If you are on a journey towards self-love, this support group is for you. Join us and find others...
So in addition to sharing three things about myself that I love, I am going to share the way I used to be and how that has changed.
1) I used to be sexually seductive with men and women; as though my value depended upon YOUR desire for me. Today I love my sexual boundaries, that come naturally and easily because today I can celebrate my sexuality without giving it away inappropriately.
2) I used to overcompensate for being too compliant by becoming overly aggressive, in "pursuit" of my rights....Today I take care of myself assertively and respectfully, without violating the rights of others.
3) I used to live in fantasy, not balancing my checkbook, not looking in the mirror at myself and not listening to the actions my partners were saying that were not consistent with their words.
Today, I live in reality - I am fiscally prudent, I love the woman who looks back at me from the mirror and I hold myself, my friends, husband and business associates accountable for saying what we mean, meaning what we say and keeping promises or assurances made to me. I live in integrity.
I may not like were I am, but it beats where I was. - KB
Sonnet For The End Of A Sequence by Dorothy Parker
So take my vows and scatter them to sea;
Who swears the sweetest is no more than human.
And say no kinder words than these of me:
"Ever she longed for peace, but was a woman!
And thus they are, whose silly female dust
Needs little enough to clutter it and bind it,
Who meet a slanted gaze, and ever must
Go build themselves a soul to dwell behind it."
For now I am my own again, my friend!
This scar but points the whiteness of my breast;
This frenzy, like its betters, spins an end,
And now I am my own. And that is best.
Therefore, I am immeasurably grateful
To you, for proving shallow, false, and hateful.
Three things I love about myself:
1. My sense of humor
2. I am a good friend.
3. I am better than I was and getting better every day.
