First of all, you are a beautiful person. It takes a lot of courage to admit our faults; to analyze yourself and determine what we are doing wrong. I believe that everything happens to us for a reason; whether it is are own doing or what we are suppose to be learning in our lifetime. Life will teach you everything your are suppose to learn. Everyone learns in their own time; as I'm sure you know some of us never learn.
If I can be frank and honest with you, going to see your ex is not a good idea. There is a reason the two of you are not together any longer. Oh believe me, I have been with the same abusive alcoholic man for nine years and nothing has changed. We have split and got back together twice and nothing changes. I have learned all that I'm suppose to learn and I am suppose to leave this man. I have sought counseling but he will not go. I have given up everything for him and I'm still a piece of shit in his eyes. He is an alcoholic, full blown and out of control. I too must find the strength to leave and concentrate on the most important person in my life............me.
I understand your feelings. I respect that you want to change and you recognize where you can improve to be the best you that you can be. Your ex is not the one. You are the one!
I am more than willing to be there for you and listen when you need an ear. Keep those positive affirmations close just as I am doing the same.

Are you meeting with your ex to try to work out your own issues? If so, you may find yourself coming up short on the insight due to the ex's lack thereof. I just wouldn't want to see yourself injure yourself again. Maybe you should post on the Abusive Relationships board before the weekend...
But I totally get your perspective, esp when people don't react how you want. I know I crave validation and when I don't get it, it's a real trigger for me.
Sounds like you're getting a lot of insight. Bravo!
