Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. If you are on a journey towards self-love, this support group is for you. Join us and find others...
When I think of my dog...my BEAUTIFUL WHITE LAB with LONG HAIR....the first thing I think about is how SAD he was and how LONG I LET it continue.
You can change that for yourself.....get strong woman :)....I don't want anyone else to live with the torment that I have lived with about what happened to my dog and my KIDS because I wasn't BRAVE enough to stand up for my life. I was a drunk. I got sober a year....and then asked him to leave.
It was HELL...but worth every minute of it....I have since had 2 relationships...not the best...but BETTER than what I was in. If you decide to do it..or work up the strength to do it...give yourself a year before dating....After being in the environment your in...you are just NOT HEALTHY....enough to chose someone else.
Do you have kids as well?
The fact that you are venting here means that you want to change and I believe you will. Someone told me "awareness is enough"
Please give yourself a break and try to do at least one nice thing for yourself a day.
I used to dread going to my own home. My home and my security. When I got sick and tired of being sick and tired I put faith in God(as a result of completing the 12 Steps) and my Sponsor to end the dysfunction. I also learned not to wait until I'm 100% sure of my decisions. If I wait for that, I'll never take the necessary steps to care for myself. I now practice the 60- 40 rule. If I'm 60% sure of a direction I take action. More if revealed as a result and I go on from there. My biggest fear is fear of the unknown. Change involves risk, going from the known to the unknown. Being uncomfortable for a bit until comfort returns. The comfort zone then expands.
Today is great! I go home to my place with comfort and peace. The way it should be. I have no regrets, only gratitude.
I really only relate to the emotions, not the circumstances.....but the venting will lead to something, that, I think you can trust for now....so keep venting.
When you are ready for change, it will happen. And who knows, maybe the change only has to come from within yourself, and it will revise the entire circumstance of the house......not saying you are the source of the issue, but maybe by virtue of your change it will inspire your husband to change.....maybe/maybe not....
For now, just keep doing this type of work and with your therapist......a break will come....this I can be sure...as mine finally did. A wall was hit and there was nowhere to go but with changing myself!! It was both painful and liberating at the same time....hit a major low point and now things are on the upswing again :) I wish this for you too!!
Take care of you.....XXOO and of course your doggy!
I'd totally go online and research divorce. If you don't have minor children, it's just about splitting assets and liabilities. You have no idea how liberating it will feel to go to an attorney with a file of paperwork to show and discover your options.
The best defense is a good offense, right?

And thank you Shellofmyself for this thread.
