Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. If you are on a journey towards self-love, this support group is for you. Join us and find others...
You are in the right place, and I agree, take it a day or step at a time, and try not to add more crap to your plate. I can do that, too, believe me. .we always obsess about our unhealthy traits, but there are some great qualities we all hold--remember that, and keep writing.
The problems are far more complicated because codependency and DPD make the persons into being very clever and manipulative and we can over rule any Therapist, or trick them or control them as they are like putty to us.
This is why the best treatment is self-help because the ONLY one (1) that we must not fool is our self, and so if we are true to our self THEN we can treat our self and we can heal our self.
Plus the biggest tool needed for recovery is to be extremely truthful because we have to unlearn the lies and unlearn the feelings and to do that we must do the hardest work our self and by our self and for our self.
It is true that it is very hard to treat but it is also very empowering, and when done correctly it becomes a lot of fun to treat because feelings and emotions are the fun and cool stuff about being human.
One of the best events of my life was when I learned about the codependency in my family because from that day onward I knew the way to get free of it.
So it sounds like you have created somewhat of a laundry list of all the things for you to tackle from the last couple of posts I have read; Depression, DPD, Co-Da, etc. I would say the first thing to do is remove ALL of your labels and start with....you are human. Like all of us. Prone to mistakes, prone to problems, prone to hurt (yourself and others), prone to have needs, prone to fulfill or not fulfill needs, have to eat, have to pay bills, all of it is NORMAL.
All you have revealed is solely an identification so you can source what the things are that are causing you pain, so you can treat the root cause...not to create a list of ways to alienate yourself, or to make yourself feel bad about yourself, or to continue suffering in a rabbit hole thinking there is no way out.....it is actually a means to empower you to say "Wow, ok great now I know what I am working with here....the road starts today to remediate the things I am doing in my life to remove this pain in my heart, my mind, my body, and my life so I can live in a life that I deserve which is full of joy"
Yes?! you can affirm this today vs. saying you are now "no good" or "broken".
By creating solidarity to that type of positive thinking vs. feeling defeated, you will have a lot of success on your road of discovery.....and recovery! Keep sharing, keep being honest, keeping coming back here....and you will find what you need. I have totally and it has been both painful/raw and the most beautiful experience for me!
Good luck!!
