Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. I have a sister who is a control freak, and I just limit my time with her. I don't know what else to suggest. I don't think I would choose to stay overnight if I did not enjoy the experience. I think staying in a motel is a good idea. I would give you a break from her and her rules.
Some people are very difficult to be around 24/7 and it might be good for your mental health to get away from her a little during your visits. My sister also has an incredible amount of rules in her home and my BIL is just as rude. (I am not talking about just preferences, etc. I am talking about bossing guests around like they are servants.) My answer is to limit my interaction with them.
I know that I am not changing them, I never will and I have to just deal with how they are.
Hugs,
Shar
