Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. In my recovery I have lost contact with some of so called friends, family and relatives ... why because they could not tolerate the healthier me. They could not see I can walk away from them... I could clearly see what is healthy for me and what is unhealthy for me...
Does that mean am I out of the woods ... no I am not but I am lott happier and less burdened.
Coming to commitment yes that has been issue with me too especially with relationships because my parents were never committed to anything ...no role models... slowly working on self and trusting the faith that things are better. Gratitude has helped me lott in that arena
I'd do you both a favor and break it off.
In a way, though, you DID commit to this for 6 years. Don't confuse that with marriage...
I'd end it and work on yourself for a bit. Maybe next time, you'll be attracted to a good egg.
I've been working on myself and noticing more and more good sign. I won a big argument yesterday so I can feel my power coming back :)
