I hope your new grandbaby is doing well, getting stronger and that your daughter is feeling better as well. You have surely had a stressful time. It is diffidult to deal with a cry baby sister in the best of times but almost impossible with all you have had going on. I did cut off my baby sister for over a year. I don't think she ever understood or wanted to understand why I did that but it did make a difference in our relationship. I still feel such conflict inside because as much as I love my younger sister, there are times when I am shocked by something she does or says. She can act like such a self centered snob. Then I feel as if I don't know her or like her. Sometimes I wonder if I haven't built up this ideal picture of my baby sister. She has many great qualities but maybe I have created this perfect person in my mind and in reality it doesn't fit. The one thing that has happened recently that has helped is humor and not taking it all too seriously. It is a bit of a hump to get over from feeling frustrated and annoyed to seeing the humor in this shallow behavior. I know the circumstances of being in the hospital with one sister so sick and the other acting so selfish isn't the right situation to find humor but I can see where it could be a laugh for you. You described your sister and her friends in such a funny way even if you were fed up and annoyed I could almost picture it all. And I could see you rolling your eye balls and making some witty or snide remark; maybe even doing the whole kiss kiss air kissing thing. I couldn't have a laugh before I got some distance from my sister. But now I don't take her behavior so personally or seriously.
