Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. If you are on a journey towards self-love, this support group is for you. Join us and find others...
yes, one can be addicted to many things...even the chaos of an unmanageable life. I used to be addicted to 'projects' as a way of not having to look too closely at my 'self' and my myriad codependent issues. awareness seems to come when one is ready

And I think there can be 'levels' of addiction but it is still 'addiction' .
Just like to send you my support and good wishes xxx
"addiction as code is also an addiction"
I just don't understand what it means and really appreciate learning all that I can if you don't mind explaining.
Thanks
Sunny
I say it is important to know that codependency is not about any other person, as we are not addicted to the other person, and it is not even a dependency on the other person or on the abuser or the addict.
If you break up with the person or completely leave the abuser then the codependency still sticks to your self.

In this case, I totally misunderstood your meaning. So I truly appreciate first your patience in explaining it to me.
Second, providing an excellent explanation. It makes perfect sense now.
I have to agree that we can be addicted to just about anything. Some are addicted to work.
I am addicted to growing plants. My home frequently looks more like a greenhouse instead of a home. So I propagate plants and grow annuals from seed. That takes so much time that they number of indoor plants fill the rest of my free time.
At the same time that we call something an addiction, we have to be aware that many of the greats who changed the world were doing what they loved everyday. using this definition they were addicts. But they were creating things and changing the way people live.
The Roman Catholic church has an organization called St Vincent De Paul. A young man was challenged to feed the poor with no money while he was in graduate school. He started this organization with nothing at all. Now it feeds thousands and saves the homes of many who would be destroyed by bumps in the road.
He eventually did it full time because he loved it so much.
So...Is that addiction?
I imagine we need to realize that some amount of choice is taken away with an addiction.
For instance,
Food addiction - clearly the person eats themselves to death.
Shop-aholic - are blowing family money just to make the next purchase.
Is a love of science that drives someone to cure cancer and addiction or just doing what one was born to do?
If we only see addiction, we can start to judge others instead of allow them (and thus ourselves) to simply live the life for which we were created.
Perhaps it is about control.
Hope you don't mind me adding to the conversation.
