Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. I say we all must deal with the reality that most every person in this world are dysfunctional too.
It is not that everyone else is healthy while you are being unhealthy or dysfunctional - no.
Other people try to dump their problems onto you, and that is the foremost reason why you are taking on their problems.
Other people really have no business dumping their problems onto you, but that is commonly done by people everywhere.
That is where the concept of a healthy boundary enters, because you need your own boundary in telling your self not to get involved in the dysfunctions of other people.
Be friends with them - yes, but be not intertwined with them.
In our society people simply love to create codependent bonds with anyone close by, and people love to mesh feelings and to join their emotions with anyone and with everyone, as most people seem to love wallowing in the codependent dysfunctions.
It is much like drinking booze or doing drugs, in that most (or many) people drink without trouble while others get plastered and ruined.
Most likely you are rather competent at fixing problems, and that makes your self into a magnet which draws more and more of the dysfunctions right into your self.
The healthy boundary simply means to protect your self while letting everyone else go on doing their crazy stuff.
IMO.
