Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. If you are on a journey towards self-love, this support group is for you. Join us and find others...
Talk therapy and group therapy help with these things though. I've been going to therapy for about two months now and I've noticed a tiny bit of progress. And journaling helps too :)
I think one of the biggest wake-up calls I received was the necessity of me to focus on changing only me. When I was drinking, I was trying to erase the world. When I was being codependent, I was trying to change her. When I chose to focus on reality and on myself, my life began to change. I worked day-by-day to improve my thoughts, my health, and my social abilities. I did not forget about my significant other, but I chose to improve me and to lead by inspiration instead of force.
There were childhood traumas that I had buried so deeply that were affecting my self-esteem, that it took serious probing in a group session at a treatment center to bring them to the surface and help me release them. It was not a fun day, but it was one of the most powerful sessions I ever had.
