It really does work. When I first discovered it I would try it with something that was causing me anxiety and typically before I was done I actually couldn't remember what was bothering me in the first place. And I felt relaxed and peaceful.
Here's the kicker, I have many techniques like this in my toolbox. My on-line journal is full of tips and trick and techniques and reassurances. But I CAN NEVER REMEMBER TO APPLY them when I need them. It's bizarre but when something comes up in my life that troubles me I tend to dive straight into it like it's the problem to be solved and I have no tools to solve it with. I immediately start obsessing and worrying and trying to "fix" but completely neglect to apply any of the proven techniques I've picked up over the years.
Anybody got any suggestions about how to "remember" these sorts of things?
That's a good idea to schedule something in. I have a regular thing on my calendar called "maintenance" and it has for the agenda several things to apply.
Ironically, I tend to ignore the reminder because I'm busy or something at the time. :)
