Has anyone had any experience in juvenile drug court? I am hoping the judge will support our desire (yes my 16 yr. old son wants to) to go that route. Unfortunately, because my son had additional charges, he has another pretrial coming up on Tuesday. His court appt. lawyer doesn't know what the judge will do. He said, at the very least, my son may be assigned a probation officer. My son has had NO consequences by the court since his first arrest back in June and he has, since then, accumulated about 10 or more offenses - including about 4 or 5 felonies! I talked to someone down at drug court and he said "Off the record" he could not believe how long we've had to wait. Our county is very slow but we have had to wait extraordinarily longer than most.
I imagine every county and state runs drug court differently but I am trying to get somewhat of an idea and I'm wondering if anyone has succeeded in it.

It would be different if he had just say got caught with drugs a couple of times.
What you should do is not totally play the troubled teen role every judge see's that constantly but slightly play upon it. Just let the judge know that you think your son should i guess due what's right but also needs to figure out where this is going to take him if he doesn't straighten up.
Because i spent a good long time in juvinile waiting and waiting for my judge to decide i had had enough punishment for my drug charges.
But simply ask the judge for hard probation. Alot of them will side for that. It's juvinile after all it's never to late to stop what has begun. Fixing a younge issues is possible it's the 40 year olds that will never change. But just hint at hard probation, that you want him to fix his act but you don't want to see him locked away.
Most of the time they will go for that. Wear him out with community work and other things and let him know that if he doesn't do what is told he will definatly end up locked away.
