Cocaine Addiction & Recovery Support Group
Cocaine addiction is the excessive intake of cocaine, and can result in physiological damage, lethargy, depression, or a potentially fatal overdose. Though the immediate craving to do more cocaine is strong and very common, this feeling usually subsides in most users within an hour. This craving can, as it has in many users, develop rather quickly into an intense...
All my best,
Dr. G.
how often does he do it
how much does he do
HOW does he do it
how LONG has he been doing it?
hes 24,he definitely could quit if he wanted to. it's not really physically addictive (unless he's to the point of using needles several times a day, which i don't get the feeling is the case). he is CHOOSING to do it.
is he SMOKING it? selling his things? stealing? breaking the law? lying? hiding? If so then YES rehab and detox are good ideas...
if he is a responsible kid who has started to do it recreationally i wouldnt sign him up for rehab just yet; just do your best to educate him on the negatives.
Tell him this...that it steals years of your life, and even your whole life if you let it. it's not cool. it's not good for the girls. it keeps you broke. it ruins relaTIONSHIPS. you look a lot less cool than you feel when you do it. it's mental masturbation.
Yes its safe to just stop.
Of course it is safe to stop. What is difficult is staying off. He likely needs detox to help with the physical side effects and he likely needs rehab and counseling to help him understand why he is self-mediating with Cocaine. Generally it is because an addict can't and won't deal with current stress and pressures in their life. Stress is the no.1 trigger in relapse.
But none of this will work, if he does not admit he has a problem and genuinely wants help in stopping.
All good Blessings,
Dr. J
