Cleft Lip / Palate Support Group
Cleft is a congenital deformity caused by a failure in facial development during gestation. It can be treated with surgery shortly after birth with highly successful results. Cleft occurs in somewhere between one in 600 and one in 800 births. Cleft occurs in several severities and is divided in two major categories: cleft lip and cleft palate.

I've debated another surgery to straighten my nose and fix my lip. Honestly.... My biggest fear of that is probably facing insecurities in the future. I see myself looking at old photos with someone new and having to explain why through school I looked one way and how I wasn't ok with that. So I had to change the way I look. Or going to a class reunion and no one recognizing me and having to explain who I am and how I had essentially plastic surgery to adjust my appearance.
Maybe I fear this new insecurity more then the one I've already learned to over come.
I'm a 24 year-old with CLP too, I get exactly what you mean with liquid coming out depending on certain actions. I've had ear tubes as far as I can remember too, but I've got one removed when I was 11/12 and the other one last year...sucks that I have a slight hearing loss but that's life.
I find this place is a great place to be, though it's nowhere as active as it was some years ago. DailyStrength has been inacessible for a while on my part since I'm based in Europe (I'm guessing something to do with GDPR) so I haven't been in here for ages.
If you feel courageous you can look into the myriad of interesting discussions that happened in this very place. On my part, I most often lurk/participate on the Discord for the cleftlip subreddit.
