Cirrhosis Support Group
Cirrhosis is a consequence of chronic liver disease, most commonly caused by alcoholism and hepatitis C. Ascites is the most common complication of cirrhosis and is associated with a poor quality of life, increased risk of infections, and a poor long term outcome. Liver damage from cirrhosis cannot be reversed, but treatment can stop or delay further progression and...
I suspect the lethargy is because of the virus, it is a symptom of hcv.
When fibrosis has advanced to cirrhosis, there are other signs.
What was your liver biopsy or fibroscan results, and when?
Advancement of disease has slowed for me when I halted all alcohol began changing my diet to protect my liver eight years ago.
So far as sleep, sometimes I can sleep18 hours but not in one stretch. I'm ok for eight hours then ready for a nap. Sometimes I can go without a nap, other times I need a whole day of sleep.
Also, the virus is destructive to other organs. Is your thyroid normal?
I always suggest that people with liver disease focus on getting in the best possible physical condition as possible while they can , being in good shape will get you through the rough patches associated with liver disease.....also, it will go along way in how fast that you recover if you were to have a liver transplant....
Take care.

Thank You all for you're input, I'll try being more active but getting started doing something is the hard part.
Fatigue related to cirrhosis is tough....you have to change your lifestyle...if you are one that is obsessive about a clean house for example, you will have to learn how to pace yourself....rest a lot, perhaps go to bed earlier, sleep longer.
I would suggest a low fat, low carb , low sodium diet.....lots of protein unless it has been restricted....fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables as opposed to canned.
Get in the best physical shape as you can, believe it or not , exercise will help with the fatigue....if your disease progresses, if you are in good shape going into liver failure (I sincerely hope that this never happens to you) it will be much better on you..
So, I would suggest a good , healthy diet as mentioned above....try to maintain as much muscle mass as possible with exercise and lots of protein, rest when tired...
Take care of yourself..
