Google "Vitamin B1 deficiency", "Dry Beriberi",
"Wernicke's encephalopathy" and "Korsakoff syndrome"
Then google "types of seizures"
It often comes down to a persons definition of the word "seizure"
Did he "lose" a block of time and memory? Was he aware that he was having a seizure? Did he lose muscle tone and fall or did one or both sides of his body go rigid with muscles stiffening?
I only offer these things as possible clues to the puzzle...if you know what I mean....my heart goes out to both of you. Playing detective is poor entertainment and harmful to you...
But I understand the compulsion. It is your choice.
I realize playing detective is not entertaining however it is necessary when you live with an alcoholic. I signed up for this and now I am simply doing what I have to do to ensure that my husband stay alive and healthy as long as I can keep him on this earth. I am not naive to the fact that he will die and he will suffer however it is till death do us part and I will walk this journey along side of him. Removing alcohol, providing him with nutrition and health care, and giving him unconditional love is what I am all about. Its not for everyone and I understand but I took a vow and I intend to see it through until God takes him from me. Tough job I know and believe me there are times I question my sanity but not for long because I trust in God and know that there is purpose in each of our lives and I believe God put me in my husbands life for a reason. I know I cant save him from his himself but I sure can make it a little more comfortable. :)
It's a personal decision people have to make, but the recovery after removing alcohol from your life can be amazing. I'm 7 1/2 years alcohol free and every day gets a little bit better. Things can change.
I wish you the best.
As Wilbur says: the victim has to choose to abstain
My family and I are fully committed to not becoming another statistic.
Come what may, it is a commitment.
If he ain't done, he ain't done. I didn't say sacrificing your life for him was unhealthy or harmful. It is the "crazy making" that goes on while in "detective mode" that is harmful to a person.
Marriage=Detective...doesn't sound healthy does it?
I hope he is done...the others are right. Health can come back, despite overwhelming odds.
