Cirrhosis Support Group
Cirrhosis is a consequence of chronic liver disease, most commonly caused by alcoholism and hepatitis C. Ascites is the most common complication of cirrhosis and is associated with a poor quality of life, increased risk of infections, and a poor long term outcome. Liver damage from cirrhosis cannot be reversed, but treatment can stop or delay further progression and...
Welcome to the group!
Ease up on yourself for now. The liver is a remarkable organ.
You may be nearing the tipping point of cirrhosis but it is doubtful.
Everyone is different and symptoms vary greatly. Detoxing has a lot of fall out. It can take six months or never, just for your brain chemistry to return to normal. There are loads of people that never present with cirrhosis; even though they poisoned themselves for years and years.
You need to see a good gastroenterologist that can refer you to a Hepatologist IF you need one.
I understand about no insurance. I had to wait until I was sick enough to go to the emergency room several times. They cannot deny service based on you ability to pay. If your complaints are severe enough, they will ferret out what is wrong before releasing you. (cat scans, ultra sound, blood work, etc.)
I'm still making payments. But it is worth it.
My point is: Try not to fret or worry. It wont help. It sounds like you are on the right track anyway; If you have cirrhosis...you are already mending!!
I wish you luck in getting the care you need.
But again, related items like bile production, bile ducting and the duodenum with fat and protein assimilation problems can cause the light bowel color and pain in the nerves running up and under the lower right rib. Not to mention a core feeling of
"unwellness".
There are some really exciting success stories here!
There is a lot to be hopeful about. Hang in there...see a doctor!
Thanks for the welcome.

As for Xanax, take a pill maybe 2-3 times a month.
I'm right there with you as far as pain pills and beer. That's what probably caused my problems. Starting in 2001 I discovered you could get Norco and other hydrocodone based meds from internet pharmacies. Thankfully the government stepped in so can't do that anymore.
I realized how much they were affecting my life and stopped cold turnkey in 2003. Bad decision, never knew what withdrawal really meant, but wow, it kicked in. Back on the pills, another cold turkey stop and another failure. Finally read about gradually tapering off the pills. Did one round, but it was to fast. Second time, I tapered off over about two months and was finally free.
I knew the acetaminophen was bad, actually logged how much I was taking, thinking I was being careful, but didn't matter, the damage was done.
Diagnosed in 2007, nearly died, massive bleeding, ICU, two week hospital stay, but I'm still here. Complete 180 from the pain pill thing, but when I realized my liver was failing, immediately stopped all alcohol. No withdrawal symptoms at all, now 7 1/2 years without a beer or any type of alcohol. Weird how the body works.
Kind of late, but welcome to the group. We seem to run in cycles where nothing gets posted, then a few weeks later things wake up again.
