I was diagnosed with cirrhosis in November 2014. Found out today that my MELD score is 20. Is that good or bad? My ALT went from 36 to 33, my AST went from 120 to 71 , and my ALP went from 191 to 137. WBC 6.0 to 7.7
My opinion doesnt count, but 20 is a lot better than 27 or 30.
I am currently 12, down from upper twenties. Aside from a low platelet count my blood work is great. Because of my history with bleeding varices, doctors wont give me "compensated cirrhosis" status even though I havent bled in over two years.
Take away the source of liver inflammation and damage, the meld score typically will drop dramatically.
If you want a transplant high numbers are good. If you don't, low numbers are better.
There isn't much we can do about the numbers other than doing everything possible every day to be nice to our livers.
