Thanks so much
I see a transplant team. They specialize in liver disease. When I started with them, my MELD score was 14. Looking at possible liver transplant. I've been seeing them since November and my MELD is now 8 and no longer in need of transplant.
I still have ascitis. I require paracentesis once a month at this point but before I needed one every 2weeks so things are getting better. I hope to pull out of this myself with diet and no alcohol intake.
As I said my doctors are not that much help.
Thank you
I'm sorry your Dr's have not been very helpful.
I do not use the bag but I know other people have.
Do you see a liver specialist? If not, I would recommend finding one if that is an option. Has anyone ever discussed a liver transplant for you?
Have they tried diuretics for you?
I don't know a lot but I do a lot of research on this disease and bring tons of questions to my Dr at every appointment.
I am so sorry that you and your family are going through this.
It seems like maybe the TIPS procedure did work by lowering the amount of fluid being drained, hopefully it will also help increasing the time period between drains. I did not have the TIPS procedure. I went from needing a para every 2 weeks to now once a month. The hope is it will get better. I follow a strict low sodium diet. I only take in 700 mg of sodium a day. My sodium intake is mostly from the protein that I eat. And I do not drink alcohol.
Don't give up hope. Stay strong. Good luck.
